Coronation Garden
Located next to a busy junction, this garden is dedicated to the coronation of King Charles III. Planting in this area is height restricted due to its close proximity to the road and to prevent visibility being restricted for traffic.
Adopted by Brandon in Bloom in 2023, this site was originally laid to grass on a slope. The area is now laid out in tiers to help manage water flow and prevent soil erosion.
The layered structure also adds depth and dimension to make this narrow area feel larger and more visually appealing.
The garden is loosely based on the King’s Sundial Garden at Highgrove, which is an informal colour blend of purples, blues, white and pinks and contains the King’s reported favourite plant, delphiniums.

Plants were carefully chosen to remain under 60cm tall

Close to 300 plants were planted in just one day back in 2023
Working within parameters set by Suffolk Highways, the planting was carefully chosen to not grow any taller than 60cm so that traffic can see clearly along Beavor Lane when exiting from the George Street one-way system.
Rockery garden plants thrive in unimproved sandy soil with relatively low fertility, and being low growing were the obvious choice for this area.
Just under 300 plants were planted in one day and the site now only needs occasional maintenance.
